Фемінізм завжди на часі! / It’s always feminism time!

8 березня 2015 р. о 13:00 біля метро Арсенальна розпочався марш «Фемінізм завжди на часі!». Активісти і активістки пройшли мирною ходою по вулиці Грушевського, завершивши подію о 15:00 мітингом на Європейській площі. Більше 150 учасниць та учасників зібрались в цей день, щоб нагадати всім, що 8 березня — це не день жіночої краси чи весни, а політичне свято, покликане відзначити боротьбу жінок за свої права. Під звуки барабанів самба-бенду «Ритми спротиву» звучали гасла, такі як «Фемінізм завжди на часі!», «Жінка – товаришка, а не товар!», «Моє тіло – моє діло!», «Геть усі патріархати, фемінізм у кожну хату!».

На марші наголошували, що не дивлячись на війну в країні, жіноче питання й надалі залишається актуальним. Адже нікуди не зникли проблеми жінок при прийомі на роботу, сексистська дискримінаційна риторика, об’єктивація та насильство — яке, до того ж, лише зростає у такий напружений час. Жінки й надалі отримують нижчі зарплати, а також переймають на себе всі обов’язки з виховання дітей та хатньої роботи.

Спікерки маршу відзначили, що ми живемо в патріархальному суспільстві, яке стає все більш консервативним через його мілітаризацію, і наголошували на необхідності впровадження чіткої гендерної політики у всіх сферах суспільного життя.

Ініціаторами маршу був самба-бенд “Ритми Спротиву” – феміністична антикапіталістична антиавторитарна непартійна низова музична ініціатива, що виступає проти сексизму та дискримінації за будь-якою ознакою. До організацї маршу також долучились незалежна студентська профспілка “Пряма дія”, “Автономна спілка трудящих” та громадська організація “Інсайт”, а також позаорганізаційні активістки та активісти.

On March 8th, 2015, the ‘It’s Always Feminism Time’ rally gathered more than 150 activists of all genders in Kyiv. They marched through the center of the city, from Arsenalna subway station to the European Square, to remind everyone that the 8th of March is a day to celebrate neither female beauty nor the coming of spring — it is a political occasion to commemorate the women’s struggle for their rights. Accompanied by the drums of Rhythms of Resistance samba band, the participants chanted slogans: “Feminism is always appropriate”, “A woman is a comrade, not a commodity”, “My body is my own business”, “Smash the patriarchy, feminism for everyone”.

The rally stipulatedthat the women’s issue remains extremely relevant despite the war in our country. The inequality at the workplace and in hiring, the sexist and discriminatory rhetoric, and the objectification are still there; furthermore, violence is only rising in these troubled times. Women are still paid lower wages, and are often forced to bear all the responsibility for child-rearing and housework.

The speakers mentioned the patriarchal society we still live in — sadly, it becomes even more conservative with the emergence of militarist rhetoric. They emphasized the need of gender policy in every area of social life.

The principal organizers of the event were the Rhythms of Resistance — a feminist, anti-capitalist and anti-authoritarian non-partisan grassroots musical initiative that opposes sexism and discrimination of any kind. Several other organizations, such as independent student union Direct Action, Autonomous Workers’ Union and Insight NGO, as well as unaligned activists, joined their efforts in support of the event.
